Canadians are being suggested to travel mild when getting into the US due to heightened security measures, together with telephones being searched.
Heather Segal, an immigration lawyer and founding companion of Segal Immigration Law in Toronto, has been inundated with questions on what to anticipate when crossing the border amid considerations about security.
When talking to CBC News, Segal gave viewers a regarding piece of advice whereas addressing “heightened security and heightened investigations at the border.”
Segal said: “There is simply super concern, concern for quite a few causes. First of all, there’s concern of getting detained. There’s concern of not entering into the United States.”
Stories of legal visa and inexperienced card holders – and even U.S. citizens – being detained have been popping up at an alarming charge. Additionally, searches of telephones and laptops are on the rise.
She added: “The concept of privacy is completely different when you enter the United States.”
Ravi Jain, an immigration lawyer and founder of Jain Immigration Law in Toronto, agreed with Segal.
When speaking to CBC News, he said: “I believe people need to be a bit more conscious that the U.S. just isn’t messing round.”
