Pilot’s wife says ‘stop wearing comfy item for TSA checks’ – Travel News – Travel

Laurie, a pilot’s wife who paperwork her travel knowledge on Instagram as Travel Tips by Laurie, warns towards wearing long or flowing clothes when passing by way of TSA screening areas.

While these outfits would possibly look trendy, they will result in sudden issues during your trip and even trigger airport delays.

Laurie defined: “Do not wear a dress through airport security for these two reasons.”

Her initial concern targeted on technical points. She stated: “The pocket of air a flowy dress makes COULD cause a dense area to show up that the machine cannot see through.”

This predicament may show troublesome, doubtlessly resulting in extra pat-downs or inspections on the checkpoint. However, even when security proceeds easily, one other concern stays.

For her second pointer, Laurie emphasised hygiene issues. She stated: “A flowy dress – in my opinion – should be packed.

“Then you don’t fear about it brushing towards a seat in boarding that has pizza sauce stains or spilled espresso stains… or a seat within the airplane toilet.”

If you’re planning to wear the dress again on your trip, storing it in your luggage might be the more sanitary choice. After all, no one wants to put on stained or dirty clothing while on holiday.

Laurie’s informative Instagram clip has racked up thousands of likes and plenty of positive comments.

One said: “Great tip. I did that after and TSA didn’t prefer it”. Meanwhile, another said: “I’d by no means put on a gown. Agree”.

Another travel fan recounted their own unpleasant experience. They said: “I really feel this, I wore a great maxi gown and whereas it was so snug SO annoying frightened about it dragging on yucky issues and within the toilet I stuffed all of it into my bra.”

However, not everyone agreed with the advice. They pointed out that maxi dresses can be both comfortable and practical.

A frequent flyer countered: “Totally disagree. We travel extensively and I love a free travel gown.

“The airline bathrooms are so small… it’s so much easier to pull up a dress! My dress has pockets, is travel friendly material and can be layered with jacket or sweater.”
