Carnival Cruise strikes ice in Alaska – ‘fashionable Titanic’ – Cruises – Travel


A Carnival Cruise ship struck a piece of ice in Alaskan waters final week and a few passengers in contrast the incident to a “Titanic moment,” whereas describing their worry.

The Spirit-class ship operated by Carnival, struck an “erratic piece of drifting ice” whereas crusing in Tracy Arm Fjord – about 45 miles south of Juneau.

The hull of the ship underwent an evaluation and no harm was discovered after the incident, Carnival Cruise Line stated on Monday.

It was in a position to safely proceed on its seven-day journey that arrives at its last vacation spot in Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday.

The Miami-based travel firm stated there was “no impact to operations” in the seven-day journey, including the ship arrived in Skagway, Alaska, the day after the incident as scheduled.

Nobody was injured in the incident. But a handful of passengers took to social media to recount their first-hand expertise of the dramatic second.

“If we die, it was damn-well worth it,” passenger Cassandra Goskie stated in a video posted on TikTok.

“It’s a Titanic moment,” she stated in a humorous tone, because the ship edges nearer to the drifting piece of the ice.

“Oh, we are hitting it,” Goskie stated because the ship struck the ice, prompting different passengers to lean over the aspect of the ship deck to watch the so-referred to as “Titanic moment.”

Goskie praised Carnival in the captions, writing that it “did an amazing job of keeping all the passengers and staff safe and updated.”

Another passenger shared pictures of the temporary collision with a native meterologist, who reposted them on X.

The image confirmed a small boat showing to comply with the Spirit and sail over the submerged ice.

The Carnival Spirit was constructed in 2001 and is succesful of taking up 2,610 company with 930 staff members onboard, based on the ship’s reality sheet.
