Seven Seas cruise rocked as mystery illness leaves 22 sick – Cruises – Travel


Over 20 people contracted a gastrointestinal illness on a latest cruise that traveled from Japan to Canada.

The Seven Seas Explorer, a half of the Regent Seven Seas Cruise Line, departed Tokyo on April 26 and arrived in Vancouver on May 14. There had been 666 visitors on the ship, and 22 had been reported unwell during the voyage, in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Two crew members out of 545 had been additionally reported unwell on board the ship. The predominant signs included diarrhea and vomiting.

The trigger of the illness stays unknown. In response to the outbreak, Regent Seven Seas and crew remoted those that fell unwell, collected samples from sick passengers for testing and sanitized the ship.

So far in 2025, there have been 17 outbreaks on cruise ships. Of these, 12 had been decided to be Norovirus, one case was E. Coli, one was Ciguatera, food poisoning brought on by eating contaminated seafood, and three are nonetheless unknown.
