Plane passengers evacuated after engine sets fire during take-off – Travel News – Travel

In a dramatic flip of occasions at El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Spain, a plane’s engine caught on fire simply because it was about to take off.

As the plane, run by Spanish funds service Vueling, accelerated down the runway, passengers witnessed a huge fireball erupt from the craft’s proper engine, prompting a hasty return back to the terminal.

The plane, slated for a home flight to Granada, was subsequently stranded on the tarmac with smoke trailing from its engine, stories The Daily Star.

A Vueling consultant confirmed that the fiery mishap resulted from a technical difficulty, although no accidents had been reported.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation.

A passenger recounted the chaotic scene, saying: “His door opened then the side door opened and bang – he was just gone.”

He added: “Then all his crew ran off after him and left us all. There was only one stewardess left on the plane and you could see the fear on her face.”

Subsequently, passengers had been stranded for an hour and a half on the airport earlier than they may catch one other flight to the UK.
